Is this true? ';There are 255 million miles of grass roots under a 1,000 sq. ft. lawn.'; (Read It On The Web)

Please post a verifiable source (explanation of how they came up with that number, etc...) if possible. Thanks! Is this true? ';There are 255 million miles of grass roots under a 1,000 sq. ft. lawn.'; (Read It On The Web)
That only goes to show you that you can't believe everything you read and the web is not the ultimate source of all information. Look at it this way, if there are 255 million miles of roots in 1000 square feet, that means there needs to be almost 1800 miles of roots in every sqare inch of the lawn. I don't care how you measure it or if consider every little fiber extension on every root. I find it EXTREMELY hard to believe that you will come up with 1800 miles of anything.
