I would go to the dentist and have them take a look at it. They may be able to fix it. If you are in pain your tooth could have an infection so I would go to the dentist... That's a ludicrous assumption. It's just it needs more work - it was ten years ago! go to the dentist.
Sometimes, they don't get the complete root. That could be the problem. See a dentist!
